With now a decade of dense abrasivities to their name in the form of varying 7 inches, mini albums and live releases, JT Whitfield presents their latest offering, EP ‘Birth of Compulsion’ on Dutch record label Strange Therapy.

From the Austin, Texas “weirdo scene”, JT Whitfield cut his teeth on labels such as Greh Holger’s Chondritic Sound and middle-England flag bearers Industrial Coast. The outfit boasts a sound of abrasive industrial beats and scratchy atonality.

On upcoming release ‘Birth of Compulsion’, we’re met with an array of dark introspective industrialism. The punishing mix of dense textures carrying a heavy beat that sounds like techno on the verge of a ketamine overdose.

The release being an exploration into the cyclic self-destruction of human obsession. Tracks like ‘Birth of Compulsion’, Over and Over’ and ‘Dragged Violently’ give the listener a sense of the kind of uncontrollable impulses that surge through this dense instrumental release.

Speaking to the track, Strange Therapy had the following to say:

Taking over with a chaotic medley of sonic debris and unstoppable violence, like in guise thoughts and behavior that hide somewhere while feeding on you and your neurons. At times, it maintains a steady pace, but mostly it kicks, claps and shoots in a disordered frenzy. Backed by sputtering and droning electronics that come and go at the speed of escalators rotating their axis.

Listen to lead track ‘Over and Over’ below in all its anti-rhythmic junk metal glory on Bandcamp below.
