Lana Del Rabies Returns With The Heavy Synth Industrial Of ‘Annihilate’

The self-directed video premieres 2 October via Feral Crone Recordings, ahead of a fourth full-length in 2027.

Underground post-industrial producer and vocalist Lana Del Rabies will release a new single, ‘Annihilate’, on 2 October through Feral Crone Recordings. A self-directed video arrives the same day, and her fourth official full-length LP follows in 2027.

Lana Del Rabies (Sam An) wrote and produced the track. Bass, guitar and additional instrumentation come from Zach Wise, formerly of black metal band Hissing. An also directed and edited the video, which was shot by Jane Slater, Vox Porter and An herself.

‘Annihilate’ is industrial at heart, though it keeps the abrasion at arm’s length. Clanging metal percussion sits deep in the mix, and a dark post-punk tone runs through it. Synths carry most of the weight. The metallic clang recalls Godflesh, and there are traces of the heavier end of Aphex Twin. The industrialism found here is closest to the third wave industrial of Nine Inch Nails and their contemporaries, while the gothic palette leans on the darker side of Chelsea Wolfe and Dead Can Dance.

Anyone who knows Lana Del Rabies for her noise work should adjust expectations. This is a deliberate, confident exercise in synth writing, and it sounds more controlled than confrontational.

The video is unnerving. Lana Del Rabies appears at night in a plain, traditional dress, and the footage has a Blair Witch quality: someone living a strict, old-fashioned life in the woods, with the woods watching back. Several of the clips are properly creepy, and they suit the track’s slow menace.

With a fourth LP due next year, ‘Annihilate’ points towards a record built on atmosphere and synthesis rather than outright noise.

Lana Del Rabies named her project after her early work, which sampled female pop musicians and set them inside melancholic noise tracks. Her music has since moved towards the brutality of being human in a world preoccupied with apocalypse. The sound draws on Einstürzende Neubauten, Pharmakon and Diamanda Galás, the inventive heaviness of The Body, and the lo-fi darkness of early Have a Nice Life. An’s work as lana Del Rabies has earned praise from The Quietus, Metal Hammer, Anthony Fantano and more.

An founded Feral Crone Recordings in 2025 and released two EPs that year, Le Temps Viendra and Omnipotent Fuck. Her live shows have included Roadburn, Sled Island, Northwest Terror Fest, Coldwaves and Soulcrusher, among other festivals. She has toured with Author & Punisher, 3TEETH, JPEGMAFIA and John Wiese, as well as Pharmakon, and has opened shows for clipping., Midwife, HEALTH, Bell Witch, I Speak Machine and Bestial Mouths.

She now heads out on a US tour with gothic rock vocalist Echos. Dates are below.
