Chicago’s dynamic post-punk duo BELLHEAD is set to shake up the alternative music scene with their highly anticipated EP Threats, scheduled for release on April 8th, 2025 on Oppressive Sky Records. The collection will be available on CD, Digital Download, and all major streaming platforms, with the first single and title track “Threats” dropping March 10th via Bandcamp pre-order.

Since releasing Good Intentions in 2023, BELLHEAD has experienced a meteoric rise in the underground music scene. The male-female duo has built a devoted following through relentless touring, delivering over 50 compelling performances coast to coast. They’ve shared stages with genre legends including Stabbing Westward, Julien-K, Gene Loves Jezebel, Clan Of Xymox, and Night Club, cementing their reputation as one of the most engaging live acts in post-punk today.

Their tireless work ethic and captivating performances at high-profile festivals have expanded their fanbase significantly, creating palpable anticipation for this latest release.

BELLHEAD continues to defy conventional genre boundaries with their unique configuration: Post-punk male-female duo band. “Two basses and a drum machine. No Guitar, No BS. MADE IN CHICAGO”. This Chicago-based post-punk duo, comprised of Ivan Russia (high bass, vocals, drum programming) and Karen Righeimer-Schock (low bass, vocals), delivers a sound that’s simultaneously raw, sophisticated, and utterly distinctive.

Threats marks a significant evolution in the band’s sonic landscape. The EP features five new tracks plus two remixes, engineered by Neil Strauch and mastered by Carl Saff. The release showcases BELLHEAD’s growth as songwriters while maintaining the core elements fans have come to love. Darkwave rising stars Clubdrugs contribute a hypnotic remix of “Heart Shaped Hole,” while Stabbing Westward’s Chris Hall lends his vocals to a club-ready remix of “Bad Taste.”

The EP covers all the emotional territory BELLHEAD fans expect – death, revenge, drowning, heartbreak, femme fatales, murder, and sorrow – but with refreshing new stylistic approaches to their storytelling. The band has even abandoned their signature black and white aesthetic for vibrant yellow, with full-colour photography allowing fans to see exactly who is making good on these “Threats.”
