Saturday, 12th of July 2025. SPK announced their first live show in nearly 40 years in Pordenone, Italy as SchizoPhreniK. Organised by Old Europa Cafe in a former monastery, it was obvious this would become a memorable event. At 9.15 Graeme Revell and his son Robert Revell crawled on all fours onto the stage to start the first SPK gig in a very long time.

‘Slogun’ was the first track they performed with visuals of the suffering in Gaza and quite a strong political statement. What followed was a mix of old and new material, highlights of the old songs definitely being ‘Ground Zero: Infinity Dose’ and ‘Beruftverbot’ from Information Overload Unit. The new songs were excellent as well, some being soundtrack music Revell has made over the last few years, some seemingly created especially for the event, like one song that had an accompanying video of the Revells recreated by AI, using flex machines to create sparks which wasn’t possible in the venue due to the fact that the building is 500 years old.

Both Graeme and his son banged on a large oil can, eliciting memories from the SPK shows of the 1980s. One new song was especially strong, entitled ‘Schmutziputzi’ the video displayed an animated ball in a derelict house with figures dancing and kissing, only to end on a macabre note when a male figure was seen with a bloody knife at the end. The figures looked like something created by Brothers Quay, an excellent video with excellent live music to accompany it. The show ended after about 90 minutes, but SPK came back for an encore of two songs, ending on a very noisy note and finally leaving the guitar at the amp producing feedback noise long after Graeme and Robert Revell were gone.
